Steve was educated as a materials engineer and began his professional career conducting research on the properties of irradiated nuclear reactor materials. He became a patent attorney and spent the majority of his professional career involved in the preparation, prosecution, and litigation of patents and trade secrets. Steve has published articles on patent damages, patent prosecution and litigation, and the effect of nuclear radiation on structural and cladding materials. He was also the Chairman of the Patent Trademark and Copyright Section of the Bar Association of the District of Columbia and the President of the Federal Circuit Bar Association, the appellate court with exclusive jurisdiction on patent matters. Steve “retired” from law in 2013 and began a consulting practice advising companies on the resolution of patent disputes using business solutions. In 2014 he became Deuterium Energetics President and CEO. He served in the Marine Corps and has been a “gearhead” all his life. In his “retirement” he restores cars and off-road motorcycles and enjoy being the resident “old guy” with the young and enthusiastic staff at Deuterium Energetics.
